Remembering Col. Maximo Abad on National Heroes Day, Marinduque concentration camps, burning of houses

National Heroes Day in the Philippines (last Monday of August), is a national public holiday to honor and remember the country’s national heroes, both known and unknown whose acts of courage enabled the Philippines to grow as a nation.

Towering among local heroes in the island-province of Marinduque is Col. Maximo Abad, hero of the Philippine-American War, the second phase of the Philippine revolution. Abad led the Marinduque revolutionary forces and defeated the Americans in the "Battle of Pulang Lupa".
Many historical buffs could easily draw the conclusion that the exploits of the more celebrated national heroes would pale in comparison to the war exploits in that battle of this great local hero.
The most comprehensive account of the U.S. Army's pacification of Marinduque was authored by Andrew J. Birtle and was published in the Journal of Military History 61 (April 1997).
Conclusively in that comprehensive article, Marinduque in those days was where the earliest harsh employment of "population concentration", euphemism for concentration camps, the burning of houses and other forms of violence against men and animals were used as technique to make people subservient to new foreign masters. Shades of this technique are uncannily still employed in this tiny island-province until today - to bring people into subservience as a study of its contemporary political history will show.
The Birtle account begins with the following gripping lines:
“The severity with which the inhabitants have been dealt would not look well if a complete history of it were written out”.
”So wrote Philippine Commissioner William Howard Taft concerning the U.S. Army's campaign on the island of Marinduque during the Philippine War of 1899-1902. The pacification of Marinduque was characterized by extensive devastation and marked one of the earliest employments of population concentration in the Philippine War, techniques that would eventually be used on a much larger scale in the two most famous campaigns of the war, those of Brigadier Generals J. Franklin Bell in Batangas and Jacob H. Smith in Samar..."
Taft would later become the Governor-General of the Philippines and later serve as the 27th President of the United States (1909-1913).
But other than the Birtle account, what more do we know about Col. Maximo Abad since very little is known about his life?
A couple of days ago, thanks to the Internet, I have received via this blog additional information from a reader, RA Sor, as comment to an article I wrote five years ago, "Tracing the footsteps of Col. Maximo Abad" which, in the spirit of National Heroes Day, are both reproduced below:
AvatarRamon L. Abad is half brother of Ramon "Daddy Amon" Sunico, Francisca "Mama Ne" Sunico-Monzon (wife of MLQU founder Chairman and President Leoncio Monzon and Julito Sunico. Consolacion Lozano Abad was married to a Sunico, widowed then married Col. Abad.

Col. Abad lived with his family in Pikit North Cotobato, he was an applicant for homesead patent in Pikit, however the Japanese War prevented titling in his name of the land he developed. His lot houses the Municipal Government, School, Church and of late a pineapple farm which operates on his property without the consent of his heirs.

TRACING THE FOOTSTEPS OF COLONEL MAXIMO ABAD

TRACING THE FOOTSTEPS OF COL. MAXIMO ABAD... AND CAPT. TEOFILO ROQUE

Lt. Col. Maximo Abad is probably one of the most elusive among the Filipino soldiers who fought during the Philippine-American War, the hero who led the Marinduque revolutionary forces and defeated the Americans in the “Battle of Pulang Lupa”. During the last four decades after the first commemoration in Marinduque of this, now annually-celebrated event, facts about Abad have remained equally elusive.

So little is known about him – the Maximo Abad who tenaciously adhered to the cause of Marinduque’s defense and Philippine Independence. For one, the name does not appear in the Centennial Resource Book, “Ang mga Bayani sa Ating Kasaysayan” listing of famous and unsung heroes, a project completed in connection with the Philippine Centennial in 1998.

The Philippine National Police provincial headquarters in Marinduque is named after him: “Camp Col. Maximo Abad”. Yet, for years the Camp has tried, in vain, to also trace his mother's surname so the initial could be appended between “Maximo” and “Abad” in the welcome signage there.

Since nothing really appears to have been written about Abad’s background, (except his well-documented exploits in the Marinduque battle), we felt it appropriate to try to dig into some old documents, surf, recollect, and ask around here to trace his steps, to know a bit more about our celebrated hero. After all, August 31 is a holiday for national heroes.

Birtle (U.S. Army’s Pacification Campaign in Marinduque, April 1900-April 1901), described him as “a moustachioed school teacher from Luzon’s Cavite province”. We dig up an old Boac fiesta souvenir program with a brief description of the town’s history naming Maximo Abad as a “Maestro” in the first school for boys established there, “Escuela de Nino”, and that he was from Imus. Imus, of course, has always been associated with the resistance movement, and this might explain his early association with Gen. Mariano Trias, from whom he’d eventually be getting orders in the course of his Marinduque exploits. So we’re beginning to find connections.

Birtle contends that the civil and military leadership of the resistance movement on Marinduque was firmly rooted in the island's middle and upper classes, and that the insurrection was also in many ways a
    family affair.

The American writer then goes on to tell us that Abad’s brother-in-law, Capt. Fausto Roque commanded the 1st Guerilla, and that Fausto had a cousin, Teofilo Roque (of the Battle of Paye fame whose biography also appears nowhere and likewise, needs to be written for history buffs). Teofilo commanded the 2nd Guerilla.

That leads us to the Roque residence in Mercado St., Boac, hoping to find more clues, particularly the name of Abad’s wife and children, if any, because that was our original intent.

We find that Fausto and Teofilo were cousins, indeed. But at the moment, no one remembers the name of Maximo’s beloved wife. They had a son for sure, we are told, but there's uncertainty if they had other children too.

We, however, unearth some information about Teofilo, the Paye hero. Teofilo was born in 1873, the son of Tomas Roque*, native of Bulacan, and Juana Navaroso, a local lass from Boac. Teofilo was the third of nine children. He graduated as a law student at Ateneo de Manila, and was still a bachelor in 1898, when he served as Lieutenant in the Marinduque Revolutionary Force.

By the time the Paye episode transpired he was already married to Filomena “Nena” Morente. The marriage did not produce any offspring. He was 60 when his wife died, then moved to Manila where he died in August 1942 at age 69. That appeared to give us some idea about the Teofilo Roque persona.

Then we zoom in again on the Abad character, one who has been described as passive, and turn to the internet.

Wikipedia credits Abad for being one of Gen. Licerio Geronimo's riflemen in the Battle of San Mateo (erroneously referred in that site and in many other sites as "Battle of Paye"), which occured on Dec. 19, 1899. But since a major confusion has been caused by Wikipedia in calling it by another name, and considering the fact that it was Abad's men who were involved in the real Battle of Paye on July 31, 1900, in Boac, Marinduque (led by Capt. Teofilo Roque), we'll have to consider it a confused claim unless backed up by verifiable references.

We then discover the text of a Supreme Court document dated Oct. 22, 1902, that showed Abad was earlier charged and convicted for having denied to an officer of the U.S. Army the existence of certain rifles which had been concealed at the time of his surrender in April 1901. It appears that he appealed the conviction and the Supreme Court held that the violation committed by the appellant Abad falls within the scope of “treason” and “sedition” and covered by the amnesty proclamation. The Court decided that Abad was entitled to the benefits of the proclamation and ordered that he be discharged
    .
The Maximo Abad surrender photo. Abad is accompanied in this photo by his comrades who had earlier surrendered, and by Col. Harry Hill Bandholtz of the Philippine Constabulary.

So, this shows that the Americans pulled one over him after having dangled the carrot that ensured fair treatment if he surrendered. He did surrender on April 15, 1901, at Boac’s town plaza in an impressive ceremony attended by the townspeople.

We then come across other leads, chancing upon a listing of municipal heads in Imus from 1888 to the present which showed an entry: “Maximo Abad (1910-1912)”. That appears to tell us that our man returned to Imus and even became its mayor eight years later.

What happens next? A passage from Cotabato’s history states a new twist, thus:

“The first Christian settlers in Cotabato from outside of Mindanao, mostly coming from the province of Cebu, arrived in Pikit on June 17, 1913 at the behest and as a result of the efforts of the late President Sergio OsmeƱa, who was then the Speaker of the Philippine Commission. Expenses of their transfer to the "Land of Promise" were subsidized by the government. The administrator of the colonies given to the settlers at that time was a superintendent by the name of Maximo Abad, a government appointed official, who took care of the settlers’ needs like food and farm implements. There were six more batches of colonies that arrived thereafter...”

It therefore appears that the adventurous spirit of Abad never waned and he journeyed to a vaster frontier that imposed bigger challenges.

    Col. Maximo Abad

Finally, we find something as we come across a site attempting to trace genealogies:

“Col. Maximo Abad (deceased) Husband of unknown and Consolacion; Father of Ramon Lozano Abad and Josefina”

And related information stating that “Ramon Lozano Abad” was “Half-brother of Ramon, Francisco and Julito”

Fresh leads. He appears to have remarried and raised more children, and three appear to be half-brothers. In time, someone might prove instrumental when we finally gain access to the Revolutionary Papers tightly guarded within the confines of the National Archives.

It's not an easy task to put it all together. But we're seized by the inescapable feeling that tracing the paths of an elusive person brings. We feel it's a good start. A great National Heroes Day for me, I might say.

    With a Satanic Smartmatic...

What are we to do now?

We are only months away from the Philippine presidential elections of 2016 yet it is not clear how the elections will be held or conducted. This is worrying.
BayanKo adviser, Jose Alejandrino wrote that the shift to an automated voting system is the source of the problems.
“The introduction of automated voting systems has injected a new dimension few can fathom. It has made it easier to manipulate voting results by unseen hands to favor candidates external powers deem “malleable,” “controllable” and “manageable” to fit their agenda in countries that are considered strategic such as the Philippines because of its location.
It happened in Latin America. It happened in Edsa to dislodge a dictator. It happened in previous Philippine elections.
The injection of a new dimension was facilitated by a corrupt environment. In some Latin American countries, control was exercised traditionally through the ruling established orders made up of big business, the military, and the church, or the conservative factions that were the right-wing elements. The arrival of the Fidel Castros and the Hugo Chavezes began a process of transformation towards the marginalized sectors. Thus they were viewed as a threat by the dominant external power in the region.
Filipino politicians are mere pawns in this big game of chess for the simple reason they do not understand the dynamics of the process, being more concerned with enriching themselves and staying in power.
Sooner or later, the cycle will break as Filipino voters realize their votes no longer count, their democracy is a farce, they are being manipulated by internal and external forces working together to maintain the status quo.
Change may take the form of a peaceful transition to a new constitutional order or a violent revolution, but change will come as is happening in Latin America.”
Automated voting system is unfit for democratic elections.
It is good that the critics of automated voting systems have sustained their attacks against Smartmatic-PCOS. Rene Azurin sent this column a reply to Andy Bautista, the new Comelec chairman.
“First, it has no transparency. With the way the system is set up, the public and independent observers have no idea what the machine is doing or what results it is reporting.
Second, there is no way the votes can be verified or audited.
With important security protocols disabled, the public and independent observers cannot verify what votes are being counted or audit the results reported.
Third, it is not accurate. The Smartmatic machines have never been shown to be able to meet the accuracy standards prescribed in the law (99.995%).”
He adds that “the greatest danger of the Comelec/Smartmatic system will come from insiders who can easily manipulate the system from within. They can manipulate the system to produce any result they want and no one can check and control this. “
“With important security protocols disabled – like digital signatures, source code review, write-once CF memory devices, independent (trusted) public verification of correct software code installation in the machines before deployment and then again after deployment at the various precincts just before start of voting, properly designed random manual audits, etc., etc. – the public and independent observers have no way of verifying and authenticating the count or the results reported.
Basically, we are all forced to accept whatever Smartmatic/Comelec reports as the results. This is NOT democratic.
Anyone with what is called “root access” can change the logs and no one would be the wiser.
Besides, manipulating the results by outsiders will most likely be done by changing the configurations of the rewritable CF cards or by pre-marking the ballots. More sophisticated methods involve transmitting fabricated results from PCOS machines other than the precinct machines and by introducing malicious code into the PCOS machines and canvassing servers, actions that can be readily done by insiders with access and intent. In 2013, there was a deliberate stoppage of transmissions to the Transparency Server about 2 hours into the canvassing to allow a Smartmatic technician to illegally fiddle with the scripts (program codes). At that time, some 20 million votes were supposed to have already been tallied for an absurdly small number of precincts and continuing the tallying at that rate would have resulted in the votes exceeding the registered number of voters. After that, there was another mysterious 44-hour lull in the transmission of votes from the precincts to the national canvassing servers (including the so-called Transparency Server).
The fact is, the relationship between our Comelec and an unqualified (and discredited) Smartmatic offering a defective election system looks and feels perverted and evil.”
This column has received criticism of the Smartmatic-PCOS from a new source. It comes from Marian Schmid, a supplier from Germany. According to its Filipino partners, its bid never even got a chance to be looked at by Comelec.
    Schmid writes:
“The OMR (pcos) of Smartmatic are unreliable due to certain features that don’t accurately reflect the votes cast by Juan Dela Cruz. Apparently, the massive rigging occurs in the transmission of votes from precinct level to national level. There is a SERVER that is controlled by Smartmatic and Comelec! Apparently, the software in the server of Smartmatic is not hashed (in layman’s term, instead of secured PDF file, read only, it’s on Word. Thus, Comelec can change the numbers eg: 60% to party A, 30% to party B and 10% to party C). That means the software of Smartmatic can be tampered and can be accessed by third parties!
The post audit firms must be credible and not under the payroll of Smartmatic…. The question is who will conduct the independent audit of the post election results?”
So what is to happen in 2016?  Here’s the answer from former senator and Philippine Red Cross chairman and CEO Richard “Dick” Gordon:
    Richard Gordon
“With the way the Supreme Court has been sitting on the cases filed regarding the automated elections and the Comelec again leaving to Smartmatic the fate of our elections – I fear that 2016 would not be any different from the previous elections – our taxpayers’ money wasted on substandard and dubious Smartmatic PCOS machines; votes not only uncounted but diverted due to source code manipulations; elected officials being sworn in not with the people’s mandate but by the power of corrupted and corrupt computer programming. This is what we should start preparing for instead of focusing on candidates.
If we, you, and our people, do not act now and force the Comelec to fully and properly implement the automated election system, we just have to accept the fact that we will be again hoodwinked in 2016.”

Confirmed distortion on the PCOS count

Koko wants Smartmatic punished for failure to remedy PCOS machines' digital lines

Smartmatic-TIM is now facing sanctions over the digital lines on electronic images of ballots during the 2013 elections which, according to a senator, affected the accuracy of the polls’ results.
Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III, co-chairman of the Joint Congressional Oversight Committee on Automated Elections Systems, on Monday said Smartmatic should be punished if it fails to explain and remedy the problem on the digital lines.
Pimentel made the statement after inspecting the diagnostics of PCOS machines at the Comelec warehouse in Cabuyao, Laguna last week.
Pag di nila ma-explain o di maremedyuhan [If they cannot explain of remedy the problem], penalty should kick in. Sabi nga ni [According to] Acting Chairman (Christian) Lim, there are always penalties in all contracts, so meron din yan [it has one],” Pimentel said.
“We have to find out because it’s causing a distortion in the count...that means we purchased inaccurate machines which should have failed in the acceptance kasi ang terms of reference is 99.995 percent accuracy… with the digital lines, sira ang accuracy na yun. Kasi the machine is counting votes which are not shaded or voted for by the voter,” Pimentel explained.
Pimentel said his committee has given a deadline for the Comelec and Smartmatic to explain the matter until December last year but both failed to do so until now.
Because of the digital lines, Pimentel said, it appears that the Comelec has purchased defective election counting machines from Smartmatic-TIM.
Likewise, owing to the digital lines, Smartmatic-TIM failed to meet the required accuracy rate set by law and terms of reference of 99.995 percent in ballot counting during the 2013 elections.
Due to the digital lines, the PCOS machines counted as votes the ovals scanned by the digital lines even though they were not valid votes. Also, because of the digital lines, votes made by voters were rendered invalid.
And since the required accuracy rate was not achieved, Pimentel said there was a clear violation of the terms of reference which was part of the contract of Smartmatic-TIM and Comelec.
The lawmaker said it is important that the issue on the digital lines be identified and resolved because the PCOS machines of Smartmatic would still be used in the 2016 elections.
Acting Comelec chairman Christian Robert Lim earlier said the real cause of the digital lines’ appearance, which is electronically-generated on ballot images of PCOS machines, remains unknown.
It was learned that Pimentel was one of the victims of digital lines during the 2013 polls. Reports said Pimentel should have been fifth in the ranking of senators but he ended up 8th after the digital lines reduced the number of his official votes.
The reports also said other victims of the digital lines included evangelist Bro. Eddie Villanueva who ran as senator but lost. In a case decided by a trial court in Nueva Ecija, it was learned that hundreds of votes intended for Villanueva were not counted due to the digital lines. - Ernie Reyes, InterAksyon

Bishop tells Filipinos: Vote for new faces, not 'trapos'

Manila Auxiliary Bishop Broderick Pabillo has called on the people to vote for new faces, and not the traditional politicians (“trapos”), in 2016 polls.

He also urged Filipinos not to vote into office political aspirants who are engaged in premature campaigning by appearing on television, billboards and various other media on the pretext of endorsing commercial products or pushing personal advocacies.

Pabillo, chair of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines-Episcopal Commission on Public Affairs, said the public should refrain from electing traditional politicians who have nothing new to offer to the people.

“Let’s try to vote for new names,” Pabillo said as he also encouraged ordinary people who think they are capable of becoming leaders in their community to run for public office even if they do not have much funds for the campaign.

“Let’s look for the not-your-usual politicians. That’s why we invite people to run, those who have not been into politics before. The usual names and faces we see are “trapos.” We would not get anything new from them,” he said in an interview over Church-run Radio Veritas.

“I hope other Filipinos will be heroic. Run for public office if they think they are capable. They may not be rich and they might not have the money but if they are ready to serve, the people will have a choice. That’s my appeal to voters, let’s vote for new faces,” Pabillo added.

He also said that spending for political advertisements even before the campaign period official starts should be considered “negative points” against politicians.

He said politicians who overspend would likely resort to corruption if they win because of the need to recover what they spent.

“Be wise voters. These political aspirants would certainly try to recover the money they spent once they’re in office. At the same time, we should question them where do they get the money they spend for those expensive political advertisements,” Pabillo said. - Tina G. Santos, Inquirer

    Ousting Pnoy, welcoming a caretaker

"The Aquino administration has not shown the slightest desire to do penance and mend its ways for its grievous wrongs. As it approaches the end of its borrowed time, it has shown no effort and no desire to conduct a clean, honest and credible election, nor to prosecute those who have debased the rule of law and the constitutional order, and ripped off the coffers of the nation.
“The apparent game plan is still to manipulate the 2016 presidential election through the Commission on Elections and its Venezuelan partner Smartmatic, in order to ensure the continued plunder of the treasury, the continued destruction of all our institutions, and the continued exploitation of our political system.
“In our effort to make the regime accountable to the Constitution and to the rule of law, some members and friends of the Council have asked the Supreme Court to declare void and unconstitutional the Framework Agreement on the Bangsamoro (FAB) and the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB) through which some false friends of the Republic seek to balkanize Mindanao in the name of a bogus peace. They have also asked the High Court to stop the illegal and massive realignment of public funds, which would allow Smartmatic and the Comelec to control without any accountability the next elections.
“To end the administration’s unilateral exercise of impunity, they have just filed a mandamus suit against the President, the Ombudsman, the Budget Secretary, the Justice Secretary, the Senate President, the Speaker of the House, the senators and congressmen, the heads of various agencies, and all those involved in the misuse and abuse of the P150-billion DAP which the Supreme Court has declared unconstitutional."

Finally oust or impeach PNoy and welcome a caretaker

LAST Wednesday, as the National Transformation Council renewed its call on President B. S. Aquino 3rd to step down and pave the way for a nonpartisan transitory council, a group of concerned citizens, including the politician-wife of his mother’s younger brother, asked the Supreme Court to compel the Ombudsman and the Department of Justice to investigate PNoy for his misuse of the unconstitutional P150-billion Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP), and lay the ground for his possible impeachment.
These are two historic moves, which the front pages of the major newspapers and prime TV managed to ignore.
In a petition for mandamus with preliminary mandatory injunction, Dr. Greco Belgica, former Tarlac governor, Cory Aquino’s sister-in-law, Margarita Cojuangco, Protestant bishop Reuben Abante, Quintin San Diego, Rev. Jose Gonzales, and former Biliran Congressman Glenn Chong, through counsel Manuelito Luna, asked the High Court to order the Ombudsman and the DOJ to “investigate and prosecute, or file a verified complaint for impeachment against the President, if warranted, or suspend or remove, the DAP authors, proponents and implementors, and continue and pursue the investigation and prosecution of other public officials and personalities anent the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF).”
Named respondents in the suit are Aquino, Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales, Justice Secretary Leila de Lima, Budget Secretary Florencio Abad, Senate President Franklin Drilon and the 19 senators who had each received P50 million or more from the DAP to convict former SC Chief Justice Renato Corona during his impeachment trial, House Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr. and other members of the House who had received and misused DAP and PDAF funds on various occasions, Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa on behalf of various implementing agencies.
In its ruling voiding the DAP and the PDAF for being unconstitutional, the Supreme Court had earlier ordered all prosecutorial arms to investigate and prosecute all those involved in the manipulation and misuse of the two programs. However, neither the Ombudsman nor the DOJ has sought to comply with the order. Thus, the mandamus.
Under our jurisprudence, the writ of mandamus is resorted to when any tribunal, corporation, board, officer or person unlawfully neglects the performance of an act that the law specifically enjoins as a duty resulting from an office, trust, or station.
It is the first time that the Ombudsman has been asked to investigate a sitting president to lay the basis for his possible impeachment less than one full year before he ends his term. At the height of the controversy on the Mamasapano massacre, an impeachment complaint against PNoy was mechanically thrown out of the House committee on justice by his Congress allies who had earlier destroyed the impeachment process by launching Corona’s impeachment without reading the complaint they had signed at Malacanang’s behest.
It remains to be seen how Morales would react to the reissuance of an order she had long previously ignored. But the more critical question is, what will the House do with a verified impeachment complaint from the Ombudsman or the DOJ, assuming the impossible happens? And how would the Ombudsman and the DOJ react to a Court order requiring them to investigate, prosecute and suspend, if warranted, top political allies who have remained “untouched,” despite their obviously deep involvement in the pork barrel scandal?
Since the DAP and PDAF scandal exploded on prime TV and in running news headlines, this is the first time any charge has been brought against Abad, Drilon, Belmonte, and the 19 senator-judges who had each accepted P50 million and even more to convict Corona during his impeachment trial, and had unduly benefited from the PDAF. Whether or not PNoy is finally impeached, the petitioners seem optimistic that their clamor for changing the entire government without need of going through another round of farcical elections might finally come to pass. (“Palitlahat,” change all) is their call.
This has been the primary clamor of the National Transformation Council from the very beginning. Thus, on its first anniversary celebration at the Manila Hotel last Wednesday, the NTC reaffirmed its original position that without a thorough overhaul of the electoral system, through system change, it would be futile to expect any change from the 2016 elections; the only correct course of action would be for Aquino to step down, and for a caretaker council to take over, not necessarily to succeed Aquino, but simply to fix the broken constitutional and political order before conducting elections.
Lending support to the NTC affair was a panoply of Catholic and Protestant church leaders and advocates of a clean, honest and transparent elections. Archbishop of Lipa Ramon Arguelles, Archbishop Emeritus of Davao and former president of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference Fernando Capalla, Archbishop Romulo de la Cruz of Zamboanga, Bishop of Tandag and former CBCP president Nereo Odchimar, Bishop of Butuan Juan de Dios Pueblos, Bishop Filomeno Bactol of Naval, Biliran, Auxiliary Bishop Colin Bagaforo of Cotabato, Auxiliary Bishop George Rimando of Davao were joined by Protestant Bishops PioTica, Butch Belgica and Manuel Valeroso, Pastors Arthur Corpuz, Reuel Tica, Herman Roca, Primitivo Arce, Antonio Ecube and leaders of the nationwide movement for a more transparent elections, including Toti Casino, Leo Querubin, Mel Magdamo and Maricor Akol.
As in previous NTC assemblies, from Lipa through Cebu, Butuan, Angeles, Davao, General Santos and back to Lipa, I was asked to facilitate the proceedings. In its statement, read to the assembly by Glenn Chong, the NTC recalled the various premises that had long led it to conclude that Mr. Aquino had lost the moral right to lead the nation, that he had become a danger to the Philippine democratic and republican state and to the peace, freedom, security and moral and spiritual wellbeing of the Filipino people, and that his best option would be to step down so that we could restore the broken constitutional order before we begin to consider electing a new government under normal political conditions.
This demand was reiterated with increasing urgency and vigor in all the NTC assemblies, and by other groups all over the country who have adopted the same call as their own. It reached a high point after the January 20, 2015 massacre in Mamasapano, Maguindanao, in which 44 Special Action Force police commandos perished in the hands of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front and the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters after they were denied reinforcement by PNoy, who ordered the military units to stand down.
For a while it appeared to have been overtaken by the intense election fever identified with the legally mandated 2016 election. This was implicitly admitted by former defense secretary and national security adviser Norberto Gonzales who told the assembly that some NTC members had begun toying with the idea of participating in the elections, just to be with the people who obviously could not resist the carnival-attraction of elections.
If later the elections turn out to be as fraudulent as feared, then that would be the time to call for direct popular action. But the idea was put on the table in Cebu, and the original sentiment in favor of nonviolent revolutionary change, rather than election, prevailed.
“One year after the Lipa Declaration, we have to ask,” said the NTC anniversary statement, “Is there anything we said in Lipa and in all the other assemblies that now appears to have been in error or in excess or our constitutional, moral and patriotic concerns? Have we unfairly and unjustly condemned the Aquino administration, and misread our people’s capability to stand for our Constitution and the dignity and honor of the nation?
“No, we have not. The Aquino administration has not shown the slightest desire to do penance and mend its ways for its grievous wrongs.
“To end the administration’s unilateral exercise of impunity, they have just filed a mandamus suit against the President, the Ombudsman, the Budget Secretary, the Justice Secretary, the Senate President, the Speaker of the House, the senators and congressmen, the heads of various agencies, and all those involved in the misuse and abuse of the P150-billion DAP which the Supreme Court has declared unconstitutional.
“Our faith in our highest Court remains strong and unimpeachable. But we fear that even if the Court should act favorably upon all our petitions, such action may not suffice to end the evil that has now become the system. We have to do more.
“We have been told that Mr. Aquino has less than one year to stay in power, and that we should be patient and wait for the next administration to take over. This is a false argument. Just as it took Mr. Aquino but one tiny moment to issue the order that led to the bribery and total corruption of Congress and the removal of the Supreme Court Chief Justice, a similar moment to issue the order that led to the Mamasapano massacre, it would not take much longer for Mr. Aquino to commit our poorly equipped troops into an unwanted, needless and ruinous war at the West Philippine/South China Sea, or to completely hijack the next election if, in his judgment, that would ‘save’ him and his friends from any and all imagined peril.
“We pray to the Almighty God, in whose hands we put the nation’s safety and wellbeing, that nothing like this would ever happen. But given what we have been through these last five years, we cannot afford any undue risks at this time. Mr. Aquino must step down. More than ever, we need a caretaker government now.” - Francisco Tatad, The Manila Times

Time running out? Planet X for dummies

We've been reading, feeling, experiencing the effects of weather patterns changing drastically, have witnessed some of the strongest tropical earthquakes occurring in the awesome Ring of Fire beneath our feet, have been aware of a dramatic increase in volcanic eruptions, been made aware of electromagnetic changes and even strange earth rumblings heard worldwide and more.

For lack of information, people just readily blame all these, and are encouraged to believe, on sun cycles and global warming (later changed to the more acceptable 'climate change').

But what if the hundreds of no-nonsense people who have done meticulous research and have taken credible photographs of this coming planet, known as Planet X, presumably the cause of it all, are correct and that indeed, its advent will trigger unimaginable cataclysms of Biblical proportions when passing Earth sooner than we might even think?

Mainstream media is still not talking about it. The reason being, so they say, that society would collapse, the chaos and pandemonium that would ensue would just be beyond our wildest imagination. Apocalyptic.

But maybe the actual situation as of now is that all information available could not be readily released all at once. Because what we are seeing is that as days, weeks and months pass, slowly but surely, a lot of disclosures are being made. One after another.

In the end this leaves you, me, us, in making the right choices. To believe that all is well with the world, or dismiss whatever gut feel we might have that something is not quite right with this only planet we have embraced all of our happy lives.

Or maybe again, best just to wait and see? Or maybe we could also consider that being forewarned, aware and prepared is better? Consider taking a break then, from all the greed, deception and corruption going under our Filipino noses and be aware that something, indeed, something huge is going on. (Marinduque Rising)

    Planet X for dummies

“WE BELIEVE THAT PLANET X IS A BROWN DWARF STAR CALLED WORMWOOD”, SAID DR. JAYSEN RAND, PH.D, IN A ONE OF A KIND INTERVIEW CONDUCTED BY INTELLIHUB’S EDITOR-IN-CHIEF

    By Shepard Ambellas
(INTELLIHUB) — On August 6, 2010, Intellihub’s Shepard Ambellas interviewed one of the world’s foremost researchers on Planet X (Nibiru), which has become a topic of great interest amongst many people as earth proves to once again be in peril, reflected by drastic changes in current weather patterns.

    PLANET X 101

“In November of 1983 NASA’s IRAS infrared telescope discovered an unbelievably huge, massive, what looked like a slowly burning star, a big object, headed right toward our solar system from the region of Orion”, stated Dr. Jaysen Rand, researcher and author of the book Return of Planet X, in his opening remarks during the historical interview, pointing out how openly and well announced the discovery was that day.
However, like clockwork, 24-hours later the media was completely silent on the matter and you heard not even a peep as national security protocols were implemented in the highest levels of the government and media. From then on, it would be almost a complete informational blackout.
“The public didn’t name Planet X, the government did […] that’s the first rule of Planet X 101″, Rand pointed out passionately. Rand then made mention of a 1984 U.S. News and World Report article which revealed yet another clue to what NASA found. “They named it a brown dwarf star“, said Rand.

JUMPING BACK IN TIME AND SPACE 4-5 BILLION-YEARS AGO

“The were twelve original planets [in our solar system] just like Sitchin described […] it’s also confirmed in prophecies, cave paintings, in Vatican information, in a thousand sources different sources we cited in our book […] there is evidence that every 3600-4000-years some unbelievably huge catastrophic event strikes the earth that we’ve traced back 500,000-years in time showing when each of these 3600-4000-years periods began and ended […] And the very last one was in 1447 BCE, before the common era”, Rand stated continuing to talk about similarities between the Bible’s exodus and the Book of Revelations, chapter 8, book 11. Rand said, “We believe that this is a real phenomenon event”
Shepard Ambellas then interjected, pointing out how the Kolbrin Bible talks of “the destroyer”. In fact, Manuscripts 3:4 reads:
When blood drops upon the Earth, the Destroyer will appear, and mountains will open up and belch forth fire and ashes. Trees will be destroyed and all living things engulfed. Waters will be swallowed up by the land, and seas will boil.
    And Manuscript 3:6 reads:
The people will scatter in madness. They will hear the trumpet and battle-cry of the DESTROYER and will seek refuge within dens in the Earth. Terror will eat away their hearts, and their courage will flow from them like water from a broken pitcher. They will be eaten up in the flames of wrath and consumed by the breath of the DESTROYER.
So many texts throughout history document, what is coming.
What if the book of Revelations isn’t a book of the past, but rather a document of what has already happened, time and time again, every 3600-4000-years? What if the next passing is soon? These are the type questions I’m asking.
“There are bones filled up into the back of caves at high elevations”, Ambellas pointed out in the broadcast, dovetailing with Lucas’ theory of why dinosaur bones washed up into large bone piles at the base of the Colorado mountains. Likely the close passing of a massive celestial object, like a brown dwarf star, can create havoc for people on earth, essentially swashing the waters about the face of the planet with nearly every pass as documented in biblical tales such as the story of the “Great Flood”.
All of this historically, may have been caused by the close passing of Planet X during each cycle. Real events, with real science behind them.

    THE ORBIT OF X

Zecharia Sitchin, renown researcher and author, has stated that Planet X flies through space in a highly elliptical orbit, approaching earth from the south on an angular plain, then slingshoting around the backside of the sun before exiting back out of our solar system every 3600-years.
It has also been said that you can only see the brown dwarf star approaching low on the horizon from a vantage point of the earths southern hemisphere, making spotting the planet early on difficult for most of the world’s population.
Wikipedia entry on Zecheria Sitchin reads:
According to Sitchin’s interpretation of Mesopotamian iconography and symbology, outlined in his 1976 book The 12th Planet and its sequels, there is an undiscovered planet beyond Neptune that follows a long, elliptical orbit, reaching the inner solar system roughly every 3,600 years. This planet is called Nibiru (although Jupiter was the planet associated with the god Marduk in Babylonian cosmology). According to Sitchin, Nibiru (whose name was replaced with MARDUK in original legends by the Babylonian ruler of the same name in an attempt to co-opt the creation for himself, leading to some confusion among readers) collided catastrophically with Tiamat (a goddess in the Babylonian creation myth the EnĆ»ma EliÅ”), which he considers to be another planet once located between Mars and Jupiter. This collision supposedly formed the planet Earth, the asteroid belt, and the comets. Sitchin states that when struck by one of planet Nibiru’s moons, Tiamat split in two, and then on a second pass Nibiru itself struck the broken fragments and one half of Tiamat became the asteroid belt. The second half, struck again by one of Nibiru’s moons, was pushed into a new orbit and became today’s planet Earth.
Over the last few years countless people including scientists, top scholars, and universities, in conjunction with other peer-reviewed studies, have documented the fact that the moon, sun and earth are not in their proper positions as things may seemingly be unwinding in our solar system.
There has been a change in weather, seasons, tides, volcanic activity, tectonic activity and more as tornadoes are now even striking as early as June.
For years governments have been aware of an approaching celestial body (a brown dwarf star) and it’s 3600 year cycle of devastation as outlined in ancient Sumerian cylinder seals and other ancient documents.

    An excerpt from the Washington Post article dated December 30, 1983, page A1 – reads;
A heavenly body possibly as large as the giant planet Jupiter and possibly so close to Earth that it would be part of this solar system has been found in the direction of the constellation Orion by an orbiting telescope aboard the U.S. infrared astronomical satellite.
So mysterious is the object that astronomers do not know if it is a planet, a giant comet, a nearby “protostar” that never got hot enough to become a star, a distant galaxy so young that it is still in the process of forming its first stars or a galaxy so shrouded in dust that none of the light cast by its stars ever gets through.
“All I can tell you is that we don’t know what it is,” Dr. Gerry Neugebauer, IRAS chief scientist for California’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory and director of the Palomar Observatory for the California Institute of Technology, said in an interview.
Moreover, in 2011 secretive and coded military drills were run in preparation for what’s coming. In fact, the ELENIN drill involved testing a massive worldwide network that would connect and go live in realtime in the event a major worldly disaster were to take place. To boot, agencies such as NASA have already prepped their on and off-world personnel for such an event.
Not to mention that it has already been documented by astronomers that the orbital patterns and tilt of the moon have changed, likely signifying the presence of a hidden celestial object. An excerpt from a peer-reviewed paper by Lorenzo Lorio filed at Cornell Universities library reads:
A recent analysis of a Lunar Laser Ranging (LLR) data record spanning 38.7 yr revealed an anomalous increase of the eccentricity of the lunar orbit amounting to de/dt_meas = (9 +/- 3) 10^-12 yr^-1. The present-day models of the dissipative phenomena occurring in the interiors of both the Earth and the Moon are not able to explain it.
    […]
On the other hand, the values for the physical and orbital parameters of such a hypothetical body required to obtain the right order of magnitude for de/dt are completely unrealistic. Moreover, they are in neat disagreement with both the most recent theoretical scenarios envisaging the existence of a distant, planetary-sized body.
Ladies and gentlemen, a Cornell University astronomer has just admitted in the above statement that they themselves are now looking into the possibility of Planet X type scenarios being real, as they themselves are dumbfounded by the data.
So is it possible NASA is hiding something?
What about all of the newly discovered planets in our solar system which have been quietly announced?

DWARF PLANET NEAR ASTEROID BELT MAY CONTAIN MORE FRESHWATER THAN EARTH AND EVEN SOME LIFE

While Ceres may not be Plant X per say, it lets us as humans know there is a lot more going on out there in which we don’t really know yet. Interestingly enough, the new find may contain life.
Touted as the only dwarf planet in the solar system, Ceres, which is made up of about one-third the mass of the asteroid belt itself, has been shown by a European Space Agency research team to harbor vast supplies of freshwater.
While it is currently not yet known how the water is distributed onto or inside the planet, some speculate ice volcanoes could be a source.
The NASA spacecraft “Dawn” is expected to arrive at Ceres in Feb. 2015 to gather more information pertaining to the water and life on the tiny planets surface.
“We’ve got a spacecraft on the way to Ceres, so we don’t have to wait long before getting more context on this intriguing result, right from the source itself,” said Carol Raymond, deputy principal investigator for Dawn at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. “Dawn will map the geology and chemistry of the surface in high-resolution, revealing the processes that drive the outgassing activity.”
Dawn, which launched in 2007, had previously orbited the protoplanet Vesta, the second-largest object in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter that’s littered with rock left over from the formation of the solar system some 4.6 billion years ago.
The discovery puts Ceres in a special class of solar system objects with active water plumes, a key ingredient for life, and includes Jupiter’s moon Europa – which may have an ocean beneath thick surface ice – and Saturn’s moon Enceladus, where water jets have been spotted on the surface.
So why would NASA spend so much money, time and effort to visit such a world? Did they already suspect the possibility that Ceres houses water and possibly life?
After all, Ceres was named after “a goddess of agriculturegrain crops, fertility and motherly relationships”, according to Wikipedia. I mean hey, it doesn’t get more obvious than that does it does it?
Rest assured key factions of the U.S. government and NASA alike already knew that water and possibly life exists on Ceres, prompting the NASA mission in the first place. And you better believe that if NASA’s public information on Ceres is limited, their info on Planet X would  remain top-secret, only to be shared with the White House per mandate.

SO WHY HIDE THIS INFORMATION FROM THE PUBLIC?

“Typically you can’t press release this stuff out to the public, because if you did society would collapse”, said Lucas with RabbitHole2.com, who was sitting shotgun in the bombshell 2010 broadcast, likely hitting the nail right on the head.
Society simply could not take this information being released on CNN and all of the other mainstream networks all at once. It would be too chaotic and pandemonium would ensue. In fact, this is likely the real reason that Ronald Reagan’s Readiness Exercise 1984 (REX84) was designed for, not for a mass exodus of illegal aliens as the official plan reads.
Maybe this is the reason that FEMA camps and secret detention facilities have also been implemented all across the U.S. and quite possibly be the reason the entire Continuity of Government (COG) program was started in the first place, which was pointed out by Ambellas in the 2010 broadcast.
“What do you need to be 1-4 mile beneath the surface for”, Ambellas said, bringing up the issue of underground bases and governments need for them worldwide.
As a follow-up to the broadcast, Ambellas did an independent investigation of the Denver International Airport underground facility which Ambellas demonstrated is part of the Continuity of Government (COG) program.
For the first time, a whistle-blower from within the Denver International Airport confirms the existence of a massive deep underground military facility located on the airport’s property.
The Denver International Airport (DIA), nestled on a vast 53 square mile complex, owned and operated by the City of Denver, is the largest airport in the United States, in terms of land mass garnered, and the second largest airport in the world to Saudi Arabia’s King Fahd International Airport.
The airport serves over 50 million passengers a year and is now incorporating a massive new project called “Airport City” an aerotropolis which has been presented publicly by the Mayor of Denver, Michael Hancock, who respectively declined an interview with Intellihub News.
However, interestingly, the new aerotropolis will incorporate an expansive business district with new lodging as well as an agricultural and technical district within the confines of the airport property to attract more revenue to Denver’s growing economy. In fact, between the planed aerotropolis and Colorado’s booming marijuana industry, DIA just might be the next biggest thing since sliced bread.
The concept is innovative, a first for an airport in America, and is likely to become the envy of other airports around the world.
In fact, according to Airport City Denver’s official website:
In 2010, DIA and the City and County of Denver took a major step in DIA’s evolution to fulfill its gateway role by inviting firms from around the world to submit proposals to assist DIA in planning, assessing and creating an Airport City at DIA as the core of and competitive accelerator for the emerging Denver aerotropolis. Later that year, DIA selected MXD Development Strategists (MXD) and its collaborative team including Design Workshop, CH2M Hill, Dr. John Kasarda, Integrity Parking, Transcore and Ambient Energy to prepare the Denver International Airport City Development Strategy.
However, local residents and others have been questioning the new construction in and around the airport property as several red flags have been raised. In fact, since the first construction phases of the airport started in the early 1990′s, there have been several indicators that something else may be taking place on or under the grounds of the 53 square mile complex.

    THE FACILITY

Some speculate that a deep underground military facility, part of the Continuity of Government (COG) program exists on the site. A massive underground city that will be used by our government in the event that Washington or our central governments command hub is compromised. According to some investigative reports, including one headed up by the former Governor of Minnesota, Jesse Ventura, the underground city that lies beneath the airport quite possibly connects to other deep underground military installations throughout the country.
A source of mine within the airport confirmed for the first time astonishing information regarding the underground facility, providing details unknown to airport staff and the general public until now.
The following are details regarding a deep underground military installation located on the grounds of the DIA as provided by my source:
    • Level 1 of the airport is inset into the ground to protect from vibrations coming from underneath. The base board characteristics lead on to this technical design. The employees have been told the reason for this is to protect from vibrations from the public train that leads back and forth to all concourses, A, B, and C.
    • The airport’s gate and door numbers correspond to emergency action and response plans that indicate specific details to people “in the know”.
    • The design of the airport is built to throw people off as levels are labeled differently on each in some cases and grading changes make it difficult to pinpoint your actual elevation. This was a security feature added by the designers.
    • Due to lawsuits (or potential staged events) in the “United Airlines, Inc.” section of one of the basement levels at DIA, an infectious bio-hazard or fungal outbreak has instigated quarantined off areas of the underground, as they are now inaccessible to the airport staff and personnel. The quarantined section of the underground was confirmed by the source to be located in Concourse B’s East side lower levels.
    • The landfill located off of Tower Rd. two miles west of the Jeppesen Terminal was added onto in the early 2000′s despite the airports appeal to the District Court against the landfill in 2002, claiming it was a FAA safety hazard. The landfill has a functioning element to it but is “mocked-up” to look like a landfill hidden in plain sight.
    • There is a militarized intermediary entrance located in the “United Airlines” section of the underground. The actual door number was reveled by my source with great hesitation. The actual door code is “BE64B” unknown until now to the general public.
    • A swift door will also allow access to the intermediary entrance of the facility if you have the proper “speed-pass” clearance on a Department of Defense (DOD) level. This door was also a secret to the general public until now. The actual door number is “T-47 M” located on the level 4 exterior. Update: Airport Staff, “I just went in to T47-M… nothing goes down, no steps, no elevator”.
    • The dirt in parts of the train tunnels looks unnatural, and “if anyone steps on it they know”, said my source.
    • Gates can “lock-down” certain sections of the airport in the event of an emergency.
    • A nearly 3 mile long tunnel heads out from the intermediary entrance “BE64B”, to a full-blown Department of Defense (DOD) sanctioned militarized entrance nestled in a set of 5 buildings 120′ beneath the surface located Northeast of the Jeppesen Terminal.
    • All VIP activity typically originates under the Northwest section of “Concourse C”
The information provided by the whistleblower does indeed beg the following question. Does the DOD have any ties to areas of the airport owned and (or) operated by domestics airline carriers?

DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE TIES TO DOMESTIC AIRLINE CARRIERS

New information uncovered by dev-test.intellihub.com investigators concludes that, yes indeed the DOD has ties to a commercial airline carrier that operates out of the Denver International Airport.
Documents requested by a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request by theInvestigative Report Workshop in 2004 reveal that, “United Airlines, Inc” is involved in a DOD “Air Transportation Program” likely connected to COG. This contract would allow United Airlines to fly VIP’s, sitting Senators, Congressmen, and top elected officials including Head’s of State to-and-fro the main COG hub located on DIA grounds.
According to the Investigative Report Workshop, “The Department of Defense audits commercial air carriers it contracts with to fly DOD employees. The Workshop and PBS FRONTLINE sent a FOIA request to learn about United Airline’s maintenance procedures. Last year, we had sent the same request for another company and the audits proved to be very informative. This time, however, we received about 94 mostly blank pages.”

    THE DIRT CAME FROM SOMEWHERE

According to my source from inside, a massive pile of dirt was added to an existing landfill in the area despite the FAA’s request that it was dangerous to travelers and could pose a radar issue causing a potential disaster. This addition to that landfill was pressed hard and was supposed to take place over a 40-60 year period, but instead took place over the course of about 4 years. The pile of dirt, which is masked as a landfill in-plain-sight, now exceeds 300′ in altitude.
An excerpt from the FAA appeal reads, “In the Hazard Determination and Affirmation, the FAA found that the Tower Road landfill at its proposed height “would be in the radar line of sight and vehicles [i.e., dump trucks and graders] operating at the landfill may cause radar reflection and consequently create false targets.” JA 7.
The Determination and Affirmation themselves provide no evidentiary basis for the “false target” finding. Indeed, we can find at most only two pages in a 462-page record to support it. The FAA’s aeronautical study reports that Airways Facility radar technicians have “identified the potential for false targets. At the current elevation of 5,423′ AMSL [above mean sea level], the landfill is below the radar line-of-sight. At the new height of 5,542′ AMSL, the large dump trucks, graders, and other heavy equipment create the potential for reflecting the radar and causing false targets…. The impact in this circumstance would be an erroneous position indication for the aircraft.”

    THE DENVER AIRPORT CONCLUSION

The Denver Airport (Location) is part of a Continuity of Government Program and does indeed house an underground facility.
Such a facility may be put in place for such an event like the coming passing of Planet X.

    IS PLANET X INHABITED?

According to Sitchin, the Anunnaki are from Planet X (Nibiru) and may explain stories if “giants” which were published in the bible and other writings. Some even say that Planet X has been transformed into a fully inhabitable Dyson sphere.

    SO WHAT’S NEXT?

I guess we will have to wait and see.
