On January 29, 2019, the House Committee on Local Government approved the substitute bill that consolidated several measures proposing to beef up the incentives and benefits given to barangay officials and workers.

Cong. Lord Allan Velasco was one of the original proponents of this significant legislation, through House Bill No. 3780. Consequently, he welcomed the approval of the substitute bill that would enhance the morale and living standards of barangay officials and workers.

“In the system of government here in the Philippines, barangay officials and workers are in the frontline of delivering services to the communities. Being in the forefront, they need as much help as possible so they can consistently and effectively do their tasks. This legislation here is a step towards that goal and I hope that barangay officials and workers will also be uplifted by its approval”, said Velasco.

The substitute bill will now undergo a Technical Working Group (TWG) panel before it is slated for a committee report.
