The MIMAROPA Regional Development Council (RDC) recently conducted
its reorganizational meeting for the term 2019-2022 at the Heritage Hotel Manila.
Acting RDC Vice Chairperson and NEDA OIC Regional Director
Susan A. Sumbeling presided over the meeting which was attended by Occidental
Mindoro Governor Eduardo B. Gadiano, Oriental Mindoro Governor Humerlito A.
Dolor, Marinduque Governor Presbitero J. Velasco, Jr., Romblon Governor Jose R.
Riano, Palawan Governor Jose C. Alvarez, Romblon, Romblon Mayor Gerard S.
Montojo, Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro Mayor Angelina F. Tria, San Vicente,
Palawan Mayor Amy Roa Alvarez, 20 directors and representatives of regional
line agencies (RLAs) and local government units (LGUs), and 11 private sector
representatives (PSRs).
The reorganizational meeting was conducted to nominate 2
local chief executives and 2 PSRs who are ex-officio members of the RDC from
whom the president shall appoint the Chairperson and Co-Chairperson and to confirm
the new sets of RDC PSRs.
For the selection of nominees for RDC Chairperson and
Co-Chairperson, Palawan Governor Jose C. Alvarez and Romblon Governor Jose R.
Riano were nominated for the government sector while Ms. Marvi R. Trudeau and
Mr. Rodne R. Galicha were nominated for the private sector.
The Council confirmed the membership of the newly elected
PSRs for the CY 2019-2022 to the RDC and its sectoral committees, namely: Ms.
Carmelita E. Cruz of Mangyan Mission Inc., Mr. Don Geoff E. Tabaranza of
Mindoro Biodiversity Conservation Foundations, Inc., Mr. Luis S. Caraan of
Kabang Kalikasan ng Pilipinas, Inc., Ms. Juvelyn Gumal-in of Pampamayanang
Mangyan Ugnayan, Inc., Rev. Fr. Arvin Anthony J. Madla of Marinduque Council
for Environmental Concerns, Mr. Delfin M. Natal, Jr. of Philippine Rural
Reconstruction Movement, Mr. Rodne R. Galicha of Bayay Sibuyanon, Inc., Ms.
Marvi R. Trudeau of Pilipinas Shell Foundation, Inc., Ms. Carrine Mae H. Bobo
of Palawan Aid International, Ms. Joanna J. Elideros of Taw Kabui for a Child,
Inc., and Mr. Darius M. Guerrero as labor sector representative.
The Council also approved the resolution requesting
concerned agencies, Congress, and Senate to provide funds for the establishment
of the MIMAROPA regional government center (RGC) in Calapan City and urging the
Department of Public Works and Highways MIMAROPA to fast track the preparation
of the detailed engineering design and program of works for the establishment
of the RGC.

Council meeting will be held on September 6 in Metro Manila.
