Leo Logdat wins in Aliw Awards 2019 on Dec 17, rushes for successful Marinduque Christmas Concert on the 18th

Joseleo Logdat proudy shows his Aliw Awards trophy.
On 17 December Joseleo "Leo" Logdat was at the elegant Fiesta Pavilion of Manila Hotel to attend Aliw Awards 2019. He was nominated for best classical male performer and was adjudged winner later in the evening. Leo is Marinduque’s popular baritone who continues to bring classical music to the masses, especially to those in his home province.

After receiving the trophy, Leo flew to Marinduque the next day to perform in the Christmas Concert at the Marinduque Convention Hall.

Of bringing home the coveted Aliw Award trophy he was so inspired that Leo wrote in his FB: “…it is my hope that because of the Bel canto more classical style that I bring to song, I also somehow educate, uplift and expose our very musical and naturally gifted people to a more universal language/ that makes for a smaller world where music unites and creates a world more beautiful and profound, more enduring because it cannot but open the heart / To that which is not just of the moment but of the timeless eternal....”

Governor Presby Velasco congratulates Leo for win. He tells the audience that for this concert, part of the artistic group's outreach program they perform 'gratis et amore' with only the desire to share their talents. This, the governor said, promotes and produces 'good karma'.

The next day, 18th he flew to the island-province to share his artistry both as a performer and a conductor with Amici Chamber Orchestra, composed of young musicians from various places, his brainchild. Leo also came to sing with two other baritones he discovered in the island. Altogether they’re known as I Baritoni, and then to present Vocal Filipina composed of three guest sopranos, and to showcase some of the young musicians of Musika sa Isla.

Only three years ago, he was instrumental in training the young on the rudiments of violin, cello, flute and piano. Now, they’re playing together in his Christmas concert, part of the countdown to Centennial, for the great people of Marinduque.

Rest of the photos in this blog were taken during the successful concert, dubbed, “Christmas Concert in Mystical Marinduque, held on 18th December 2019, at the Marinduque Convention Center.
