Water is Life. The Marinduque Metro Water District envisioned by Gov. Presby Velasco will be operational 24/7 supplying clean and safe water to the households.

It will be recalled that Gov. Velasco stressed in his 2019 inaugural speech the need to address the perennial water shortage through a Water Supply System covering the entire province of Marinduque.

A year later, he reported on the partnership he has entered into with the Province of Palawan through an RDC Sisterhood Agreement to provide clean, reliable and potable water supply to the communities.

Recently, a team from the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA), together with the provincial government team and the DENR-Provincial Office conducted a Technical Georesistivity Study and validation in the identified 32 water sources in Marinduque.

This was undertaken from  February  9 to March 2, 2021. Yesterday, an exit conference was held at the Capitol Convention Center with Gov. Velasco, provincial administrator Vincent Michael Velasco,  LWUA administrator Jeci Lapus with his team and others involved in the project.

To date, the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) with support and assistance of House Speaker Lord Allan Q. Velasco included the project in the GAA for FY 2021 in the amount of Php 433-Million for Phase I. The remaining fund requirement will be secured from the national government for FY 2022.

During the RDC Full Council Online Meeting on Sept. 4, 2020 a resolution was passed, “Approving the inclusion of the construction of the Marinduque Water Supply Project in the RDIP 2017-2022”.
