Boac River dead? Boac River now

All seems to be well in this riverbank near Brgy. Sawi in Boac. Years ago, the Boac River was the most dreaded river with loud cries about tailings toxicity. While court cases are being heard through the years, while no honest- to-goodness rehabilitation of the river ever transpired inspite of all the noise, the river kept rolling, rolling day in and day out, in the process cleaning, cleansing itself.

Are the fish, crabs and shrimps found there now toxic? Are they not? It could take years again for many of the big institutions to debate about that. In the meantime, nobody could stop poor yet happy people who just shrug off the many jokes of life they encounter while living on this island. People will swim there. Boys and girls (and their mothers and fathers), will engage in catching tilapia and other fishes in the Boac River for dinner. They have returned to the river: bagtok, hipon, tugod, angaang, tilapia, dalag, hito, igat, banak, kayaon, udyangkot and many more fish!
