Cawit Port and Marinduque's primary and interior roads

The Port of Cawit that was re-opened in 2008, is situated on the mid-western side of mainland Marinduque serving as a major port for the towns of Boac, Gasan and Buenavista. It handles agricultural and trade products, construction materials and passenger services. Marinduque's other ports are Balanacan Port in Mogpog and Buyabod Port in Sta. Cruz.

With the increasing number of passengers and quantity of cargoes serviced by Cawit Port, continued improvement of the port and its facilities are absolutely necessary. Beyond the port, small-island Marinduque's primary roads connecting the six municipalities that were mainly laid with basic concrete, asphalt, gravel and soil have now been replaced with thick concrete.
Thick concrete roads for heavy trucks.

Roads with considerable volume of vehicles particularly heavy trucks are poured with 10-inch thick concrete for better performance over a much longer period of time, in contrast to earlier DPWH practice. This road is part of the Marinduque Circumferential Road.

In interior Paye, Mogpog

On the other hand, due to bad roads in some interior portions of Marinduque most people living there have no choice except to hike the distance of from seven to eight kilometers to town. This is the case in barangays Guisian and Paye in northern Mogpog where a single jeepney plies the route only once in the morning and in the afternoon.

Farm-to-market roads.

Roads that are in poor condition make it difficult for farmers to get their harvests to the market. The rehabilitation of these roads are usually the main concern of the affected barangays. This farm-to-market road project near the boundary of Guisian and Paye is a project of the DPWH sourced from Cong. Lord Allan Velasco's Priority Development Assistance Fund. This is also the case in other identified barangays where such projects are in various stages of implementation.
