Sayao's mangrove lined estuary

sayao estuary

During weekends or after school, children from Sayao are inclined to take a dip in this estuary. This is where the tide finally meets the stream running from Sayao Falls and beyond, such as the stream flowing through Hinadharan.  An old man from Sayao who has lived in this barangay almost all his life, has suggested that water flowing from the San Isidro Subterranean River also end up here.

Sayao's mangrove lined estuary, important for some species of fish and crustaceans found in the bay.

mangrove
Old mangrove that, so far, has survived human incursion into her territory. Others are not as fortunate as only a few steps away, an area has been cleared of a cluster of mangroves to make way for man's need of more space.

A physical, historical and cultural interconnection exists among these barangays surrounding Sayao Bay. Blessed by nature, but there are also many indigent families.
