The construction of Sta. Cruz Sports
Complex located in Brgy. Baliis, Sta. Cruz, is a continuing priority
development project of the Municipal Government of Sta. Cruz spearheaded by
Mayor Percy Morales in cooperation with Cong. Lord Allan Velasco. Initial
funding for the project was obtained through Velasco’s PDAF and other sources
such as Cong. Sambar’s PDAF, a recent Marinduque visitor. Infrastructure projects such as covered courts already
completed in the towns of Sta. Cruz funded through Velasco’s PDAF or from other
sources tapped by him such as senatorial and other congressional PDAFs, include cover courts completed in barangays Banahaw, Lapu-Lapu, Matalaba, Tawiran (in Sta. Cruz) and barangays Bonliw and Malinao in Torrijos.
Road projects continue to be undertaken by
the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), as well as farm-to-market
road projects in various parts of Sta. Cruz and Torrijos, as well as the other towns in Marinduque. Other barangay projects
prioritized by the concerned barangay councils with requests for funding
coursed through Velasco are for multi-purpose buildings, classrooms, revetment
and water supply systems.
