It’s Fiesta Week in Boac, Marinduque with daily activities
lined up for everyone. Last Saturday, an Agri-Tourism Fair and Butterfly
Showcase was launched at Lardizabal St. where the exhibits could be viewed
throughout the week. An Araw ng Kabataan parade was held last Sunday that was
organized by the Municipal Social Welfare & Development Office with the
Boac Children’s Association, Boy Scouts of the Philippines and Girl Scouts of
the Philippines.
In the evening it was the turn of Boac Senior Citizens
Association in cooperation with the Rotary Club of Marinduque North to host the
Senior Citizens Night & Coronation for the “Kisig at Gandang Walang Kupas
2012” pageant for the elderly.
An “MSC Night” was held last Monday, a “Bakbakan sa Plaza”
(Boxing) on Tuesday, “Saint Mary’s College Presentation” at the Boac Covered
Court on Wednesday and an Inter-Agency Volleyball
Tournament thereafter. Today, a Basketball Exhibition Game with Liga ng mga
Barangay and Municipal Employees competing, and in the evening at 7:00 pm, the
Barangay Party Night where guests will come in their floral attire.

Tomorrow, December 7th a Parade and Field
Demonstration at 8:00am has been scheduled by the Boac North and South Districts
(DepEd), wth Volleball Championship Games for women and men held at 1:00pm and
3:00pm respectively. A Grand Procession through the streets of Boac in honor of
the Immaculate Conception, Patron Saint of Boac is scheduled at 6:00pm.
The
Marinduque National High School is sponsoring a cultural presentation at
6:00pm, “Muling Silip sa Kulturang Boakeno”.

Highlighting the weeklong celebration is the inauguration of
two major buildings in Boac, the Boac Fire Station Building in Brgy. Santol and
the quite impressive and newest landmark in Boac, the fully airconditioned Boac
Municipal Building, the construction of which was pursued vigorously by the administration
of incumbent Mayor Roberto M. Madla.
Boac’s now annual event, the “Bila-Bila Festival and Street
Dancing Competition” follows at 10:00am. For the first time, said festival
features a “Festival Queen Candidate” in each contingent, vying separately for the
title of “Festival Queen of Boac”.
