In solidarity with the continuing struggle of the people of Marinduque, Catherine Coumans, PhD of Mining Watch Canada conveyed the following message, just now, through this blog:

"As always I am so very impressed with the integrity, intelligence and energy that Marinduquenos continue to bring to the very long struggle for real environmental and social justice after the devastations of mining. To finally have a successful court case only to see it end in legal fictions that deny truth and stop Marinduquenos from spending the crumbs Barrick is throwing off the table to do what they really need to do - fix dams and clean up ecosystems - is really adding further injury to the harm already wreaked by mining.
