You Can Soon Fly Direct to the Charming Island of Marinduque

Summer is just a month away (or maybe even weeks) and you're probably busy planning your next getaway. But don't settle for the usual tourist destinations just yet! Cebu Pacific, which is having a month-long seat sale, will start flying direct from Manila to Marinduque on April 1. Flight schedule is every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. To celebrate this launch, a sale price of P499 (base fare) is available for booking from March 6 to 13 with the travel period from April 1 to October 26.

Marinduque, an island province located south of Lucena, Quezon, is well known for the Moriones Festival. This is held annually during Holy Week, and participants dress up as Roman soldiers from Biblical times. There is a reenactment of the search for Longinus, the Roman centurion who pierced the side of the crucified Christ and was converted to Christianity after experiencing a miracle first-hand. Aside from this interesting tradition, Marinduque also boasts white-sand beaches, sandbars, and clear-blue waters perfect for diving.
The direct flight cuts a lot of travel time for travelers who just want to see the wonders of this heart-shaped island. And when we say a lot, we mean up to eight hours! You have to spend four hours aboard a bus from Manila to Dalahican Port in Lucena, then take another four-hour ride on a roll-on, roll-off ferry to the island province. That's almost a whole day you could have just spent lying on the beach.
