House kicks off deliberations on P5.024-trillion national budget for 2022

The House of Representatives is now buckled down to work on its constitutional mandate of scrutinizing the national budget as the  Committee on Appropriations today begins its deliberation on the FY 2022 National Expenditure Program.

The proposed P5.024-trillion 2022 national budget—the last budget to be enacted under the administration of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte—is anchored on the theme “Sustaining the Legacy of Real Change for Future Generations” and is focused on getting the country back on the road towards full recovery.

Speaker Lord Allan Velasco underscored the crucial role of Congress in passing a national budget “that will only serve as an instrument for development, but also as a powerful tool to decisively defeat COVID-19 and rebuild people’s lives and livelihoods.
