(This map is based on the geology, presence of active faults, historical accounts of large earthquake events that affected the island, and the proximity of the maximum credible earthquake that may affect the island.

This map is semi-detailed and may be used for land use, emergency response and mitigation planning, and should not be used for site specific evaluation.

This ground shaking map does not restrict construction of any structure and development in the island, but adherence to construction practices and to the latest building standards of the National Building Code of the Philippines and Structural Code of the Philippines is highly recommended.)

Naganap ngani at sabi ng US 'one time shot' laang yun.

DETALYE? IRI: “The Sun appears to precisely clothe Virgo… Jupiter is birthed on April 08, 2018.

Conspiracy theorists also say the mysterious planet Nibiru will appear in the sky, followed by the onset of World War III, the rise of the Antichrist, and seven years of Tribulation
“The 12 stars at that date include the nine stars of Leo, and the three planetary alignments of Mercury, Venus and Mars – which combine to make a count of 12 stars on the head of Virgo.\

Lord Allan Jay Q. Velasco, at Tagapangulo ng Senado Committee on Energy, at Sen.

House Committee approves substitute bill on mobile number portability

The House Committee on Information and Communications Technology approved on March 14, 2018,  the substitute bill on Mobile Number Portability, a legislative measure which sought to provide mobile telephone subscribers the option to retain their numbers even if they switch to another service provider or even if they switch from mobile postpaid account to a mobile prepaid account and vice versa.

One of the original authors of this measure is Congressman Lord Allan Jay Q. Velasco of Marinduque. With the counterpart measure, sponsored by Senator Win Gatchalian, being approved on third reading in the Senate, mobile subscribers can hope that soon enough this House Bill will be enacted into law.

Marinduque Akin Ka performed by Margaux Perolino

Marinduque Akin Ka was premiered in 1992, for the first Teatro Balangaw presentation at the Boac covered court in celebration of the Boac Town Fiesta that year.

This year's surprise restaging of "Bulong" dance-drama by Teatro Balangaw featured the same song composed by this blogger as its theme and rendered by the beauteous Margaux Perolino on the same old stage in Boac.

"Bulong" on the other hand was last mounted in 2008 as part of the Marinduque celebration of Araw ng Marinduque and Philippine National Arts Festival project of NCCA and the provincial government of Marinduque also with this blogger as Artistic Director.

Cong. Lord Allan Velasco's Cultural Night for PICE a smash

When I posted throwback pics from 2008 of Bulong dance-drama presented in the six towns of Marinduque as part of the NCCA-PGM National Arts Month-Araw ng Marinduque project, I had no inkling that it would be restaged one and a half months later. But it happened.

What is BULONG?

This Dance-Drama was inspired by a compilation of Marinduque’s folklores published in 1914 and annotated by anthopologist Henry Otley Beyer, known as the Father of Philippine Anthropology. “Bulong”, pronounced boo’-long, is defined as the collective name of spirits that bodily transport humans into another place or dimension. It is thus a glimpse into local traditional stories and bits and pieces of Marinduque’s ancient history.

SYNOPSIS:

Teenage Salve catching ‘bilabila’ (butterflies), gets lost in the forest. She finds herself in the company of elemental spirits and creatures of the underworld like patianacs, asuangs, duwendes, lambanas, engkanto, white lady. She is taken to the world of her ancestors under the rule of Katalona and witnesses their rituals and practices and how these were supplanted by a new set of beliefs. The spirits free her at last but Engkanto, calling in Aswangs get in the way. With no one to save Salve except herself, she uses the folk formula to set herself free from her vicious abductors.

Rodolfo L. Jao, M.D.: From Boton (Boac) to Boston - Marinduque's first celebrity doctor

High up in the mountains I heard about the passing away of Marinduque's famous celebrity in the 60s, Dr. Rudy Jao. His family used to live in the quiet barrio of Boton where I also grew up. I just remember that one summer day in those days there was unusual excitement among the local folks. 'May mga parating na mga artista!' Si Tessie Agana, who was famous for having been the child star of 'Roberta', a tearjerker of a movie, and she was also known as the daughter of the beautiful accomplished actress, Linda Estrella. She was accompanying the couple visiting the humble barrio. Tessie got married in the U.S. to our barrio boy, a well-respected physician there. To welcome the party people lined up the dusty Ilaya road to warmly receive them.

As a kid I just heard people talking about 'nagapandaw laang yang Rudy na 'yan nung araw sa ilog (Boac River) mandin pag walang pasok'. He went to school at the Marinduque High School and returned another time to receive an Outstanding Alumni Award from his Alma Mater dear.

Here's what I came across about the late Dr. Jao:

Rodolfo L. Jao M.D.
OCTOBER 16, 1933 – FEBRUARY 28, 2018

Dr. Rodolfo (Rudy) Jao age 84, of Valparaiso, passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2018. Second child of 8 siblings; Beloved husband of 53 years and survived by his wife: Maria Teresa Jao. Devoted father of Marita, Radmar, Rodger, Roderick (Melissa), Michelle (Dino), Mylene (Andy), Rodolfo Jr., Rodney (Noriko), Rodell (Toba), and grandchildren: Brianna, Marcella, Liam, Alexi, Ty, Cassandra, Xander, Lara, Gia, Cali, Chapman, Harris, Rodolfo III (Brody), Maxton, Emilia, and grandchild #16. Cherished brother and brother-in-law and proud uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Rodolfo L. Jao, MD was a practicing Internist specializing in Infectious Disease in Northwest Indiana for over 40 years. As a young boy growing up in Boac, Marinduque in the Philippines his intelligence, curiosity for science and incredible personal drive and ambition paved the path to be a doctor. Dr. Jao went to the University of the Philippines Medical School, however, as he seeked more opportunity he moved to the United States to do his Fellowship training in Infectious Disease at Harvard Medical School in Boston. Dr. Jao’s passion and dedication to the Philippines and the medical community led him to be co-founder of many organizations and led to charitable medical missions in the Philippines. He served in a leadership role and was deeply committed to all organizations. Dr. Jao was an active member in the University of the Philippines Medical Association of America, Marinduque International, Inc., Philippine Professional Association, Indiana Philippine Medical Association, Philippine Medical Association in Chicago, Asian American Medical Association, and Association of Philippine Practicing Physicians in America just to name a few.
