Bagong usong buhos ng ulan: Rain bombs!

'Napansin mo ba? May bagong usong malakas na ulan: Rain Bombs!

Medyo malimit na ring pag-usapan ang tungkol dito. Ang sabi:

When the conditions are just right, something as common as an ordinary downpour can turn into an amazing rare phenomenon.

But one strange weather pattern is taking the world by storm, and quite literally. It’s called a rain bomb, and it’s like something straight out of a sci-fi movie!

This extraordinary occurrence is a beautiful and destructive weather event known as a “rain bomb.”

More commonly known as a microburst, a rain bomb happens when a cooled heavy column of air sinks suddenly in the middle of a storm. This downdraft pulls the water droplets down with it with tremendous force.

When the air hits the ground, it’s pushed outward in a curling motion, causing winds of up to 150 mph and bringing crushing torrents of rain.

Microbursts reach areas of no more than 2.5 miles across, and they come and go quickly, making them extremely rare.

Eto ang isang rain bomb caught on camera in stunning timelapse.

Sabi ng isa pa: Rain bomb. It’s a new kind of severe rainstorm that’s capable of overwhelming a city’s flood-handling capabilities in just an hour or two. Of generating 2-inch-plus per hour rainfall events in odd places and at unexpected times. These days, there are new kinds of thunderstorms ranging the globe, and there’s a lot we don’t understand about them.

Naalaala ko tuloy. May nagsabi pa noon tungkol naman sa panganib dala ng mga dam ng Marcopper na only something like "the dropping of an atomic bomb into the Tapian pit" would cause it to collapse. Kaya pala wala silang paki. Tayo, nganga!

Sana naman ay huwag mangyaring...
