PULANG LUPA VENUE MOVED


At 4:00 p.m. today, tropical depression "NANDO" was estimated by PAG-ASA at 110 kms East Northeast Of Casiguran, Aurora (16.9°N, 123.3°E) with maximum winds of 55 kph near the center. For the last few days Marinduque has experienced scattered rainshowers that has rendered the 7-km rough road to Pulang Lupa slippery, with at least one vehicle carrying workers preparing the site for the celebration stuck in mud today. For this reason, venue for the activities has been transferred to Torrijos poblacion with the main programme to be held at the Torrijos Covered Court.

Representing defense secretary Gilberto Teodoro, Jr. (who is on a U.S. visit), as keynote speaker for the Battle of Pulang Lupa commemoration is usec for legal affairs and strategic concerns, Alberto Valenzuela, Jr. arriving with other officials from the defense department.

Commander of the Southern Luzon Command, Lt. Gen. Roland Detabali, AFP, will be joined by other officers including Brig. Gen. Jorge Segovia, AFP, Commander of the 2nd Infantry Division and Police Chief Supt. Paul Pueblos Mascarinas, PNP Regional Director, Mimaropa, for the military honors.

In lieu of the Alay Lakad (Walk for a Cause) to Pulang Lupa a parade with participants from the different organizations joining will be held at the town center. The activity starts with a thanksgiving mass at 7:30 am tomorrow.
